We collect only what we need to run the program:
- Account details — name, email address, grade, and (for mentors) a phone number and meeting link. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see or store them in readable form.
- Family contact details — a parent or guardian's name and phone number, and a student's own contact info if they choose to provide it.
- Coaching records — session schedules, notes, and feedback created as part of coaching.
- Forms — anything you submit through our Google Forms (intake and mentor applications), which Google processes under its own privacy policy.
We do not run analytics, advertising, or tracking tools, and we do not build profiles of visitors. Our hosting provider (Vercel) may keep standard server logs, such as IP address and requested page, for security and reliability.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To match students with appropriate mentors.

4. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information with service providers who assist us in operating our platform (such as Firebase/Google for data storage), solely to provide our services. 5. Cookies and Local Storage
FocusLab does not use cookies, and we do not use advertising or analytics trackers. When you log in to the portal, Firebase Authentication stores a sign-in token in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in. It is used only to keep you logged in, is not shared for any other purpose, and is removed when you log out. Our fonts are served from our own site, so visiting does not send your information to Google Fonts.
6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Our services are intended for students in grades 6–10 (approximately ages 11–16). We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide our services. For students under 13, we require parental or guardian consent before collecting personal information. Parents may review, update, or request deletion of their child's information by contacting us at focuslabacademiccoaching@gmail.com.
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
